Peak Name: Double Peak
Distance: 4.1 miles
Date: May 19, 2017 (August 16, 2019)
Summit: 1,644 feet
This is another great peak to summit after work. Located up in San Marcos, I was able to drive to the trailhead on the way from work.
The trail is well maintained and well used by locals for exercise. In fact, part of the route goes through a neighboorhood. Once at the top you have some incredible views of north county.
One thing to note, you can actually just drive to the top of this summit 🙂
Update: August 16, 2019
For summiting this peak again, I opted to use the Ridgeline trail. This is trailhead is just to the east along San Elijo Road. From a nice parking lot, I headed along the well-maintained trail.
After about .6 miles, I turned off the main trail and onto the single track for the rocky steep push to the top. This was the route I used down from my previous trip.
Once at the summit, I snapped a few photos and headed back down. I loved the steep trail warning.
This was my 54th peak of 100 Peak Challenge Reboot.
